SANDHURST LATE GOAL SHOW

Pre Season Friendly
BILSTHORPE RESERVES 0 SANDHURST FC 4

So far possibly the worse Pre season game Ive seen this season, no skill, hardly any football played, play kept breaking down, bad tackles and 2 players having to leave the field of play due to receiving cards, what did liven things up was the 3 late goals by Sandhurst.

The game kicked off at 7pm and already on a dark cloudy night, it look grim and I wondered if the game would last 90 minutes, but it did and the light held well. Bilsthorpe had the first chance of the game, when hitting the crossbar after 20 minutes, but it was the visitors who controlled much of the game. After 31 minutes, CHAPMAN shot from the edge of the box and the flapping keeper seemed to lay on the floor and push the ball over his head. The keeper had played well up to that point.

The match was very dull and I found myself chatting away to local Football league referee Ian Dudley and Kirton Brickworks Secretary Jamie Birch.

The game continued and few bad tackles and strikes out saw the referee do well to keep the game in control. On 75 minutes, as I was about to nod off to sleep, Sandhurst had another attack and they doubled their lead after a good finish by new signing COX.

Sandhurst then upped their game and substitute NOBES hit through a crowded penalty boox to score his first goal in over two and half years much to his delight to increased his clubs advantage to 3-0 after 86 minutes.

Just before the end, Sandhurst were awarded a free kick just outside the area, to which SAVAGE stepped up and fired home.

A difficult game to really say where both sides will finish in the Notts Senior League this coming season and of course both clubs cant play as bad as they did in this game..surely?
