CHARITY NON LEAGUE FOOTBALL BLOG

Each year, me and my wife Hazel have decided to help a different CHARITY, by donating 25p every goal we see at the matches we attend.
Over the years, people and clubs from as far as Coxhoe in Durham down to Penzance in Cornwall have donated as we have visited the grounds and we have raised over £3,500 in the 4 seasons we have run the Charity Blog. As you can see from the Photo above, last season(2014-15) we raised £1325.00 for Support Dogs.

During the 2015-16 season, we are supporting 2 worthy causes

1. THE FOXTON CENTRE
2. INTEGRITAS

Both Charities aid homeless people and people with mental issues and vulnerable adults. So if you would
like to make a donation(no matter how small) and
you see me at a match, please come up to me or Hazel, we would be very grateful. All Donators will get a mention on the blog and the running total is on the left hand side.

Many Thanks

Rob & Hazel Hornby

TOWN QUICK OFF THE MARK

Notts Senior League
Division One
SOUTH NORMANTON TOWN 7 ASHLAND ROVERS 3

South Normanton Athletic Reserves changed their name to Town during the close season. Their first match saw them play hosts to local rivals Ashland Rovers. The game kicked off and it was Town who were quick in to their stride after just 2 minutes when BEN ROFFEY fired them in front. On 4 minutes, they had doubled their lead through ADAM GILLOTT. Ashland pushed forward in search of getting back in to the game and applied a bit of pressure, but in the 27th minute, ladyluck was against them when HALL turned the ball past his own keeper to make it 3-0.  After 29 minutes, a long range free kick by GARETH POPE made it 3-1. Ashland were having a good stage of the game and felt they should have had a penalty, but ref Derek Spray waved away all appeals, from the break Town ran forward and their player was bought down in the box and a penalty was awarded, up stepped TOM LEWIS who restored their 3 goal lead.

Ashland begin the second half very strongly and hot the bar twice, but Normanton survived until 53 minutes when the ball was scrambled over their goal line to make it 4-2. After 65 minutes, the homesters began to take control again when TOM LEWIS stroked home the ball to extend the lead to 5-2. After 72 minutes, ADAM GILLOTT scored his second and Town's sixth. On 75 minutes, a penalty was awarded after a late tackle and up stepped TOM LEWIS who dispatched the spot kick to complete his hat trick. On 83 minutes, Ashland pulled back a goal to make it 7-3.
