CHARITY NON LEAGUE FOOTBALL BLOG


Each year, me and my wife Hazel have decided to help a different CHARITY, by donating 25p every goal we see at the matches we attend.
Over the years, people and clubs from as far as Coxhoe in Durham down to Penzance in Cornwall have donated as we have visited the grounds and we have raised over £3,500 in the 4 seasons we have run the Charity Blog. As you can see from the Photo above, last season(2014-15) we raised £1325.00 for Support Dogs.

During the 2015-16 season, we are supporting 2 worthy causes

1. THE FOXTON CENTRE
2. INTEGRITAS

Both Charities aid homeless people and people with mental issues and vulnerable adults.So if you would
like to make a donation(no matter how small) and
you see me at a match, please come up to me or Hazel, we would be very grateful. All Donators will get a mention on the blog and the running total is on the left hand side.

COTGRAVE COME OUT TO SUPPORT TY

Sometimes football has to take second fiddle and today was going to be just that, as Cotgrave FC came together as a club to pay respect to their First Team Player/Reserves Captain Tyrone Booth who sadly at the young age of 25 years old passed away on Wednesday. The club was offered to cancel their matches but the First Team wished to pay respect by playing. The Cotgrave public turned out with exactly 100 people coming through the gate to watch the game against Attenborough FC.
 
Having not been to Cotgrave since the Friday evening groundhop took place there a couple of years ago, I went today as the Notts Senior League Committee Representive.  On arrival, I was met by the Cotgrave management and soon met the 3 officials. Just before kick off, Cotgrave came to a silent stand still in a minutes mark of respect.
 
The game kicked off and it was Cotgrave who looked the brighter on the attack but had to make a early substitute when leading forward Kirkby had to limp off, they still pressed forward and on 27 minutes, Shaun Jackson beat the offside trap and squared the ball to LEE POTTS who tapped the ball home from close range.
 
Attenborough tried to get back in to the game and home keeper Adam Heard was called in to action, just as I was getting my half time cuppa after 44 minutes, in front of the dugouts and out of my view, came a nasty tackle so Im told and Referee Ibby Arsali produced a yellow card to Josh Watts. Half time came at the right time as the second half kicked off quite tamely, but Cotgrave needed that second goal, but it just wasn't coming, as Attenborough came more in to the game. Man of the Match home keeper Adam Heard was keeping his sides slender lead but they say games have turning points and on 86 minutes, Cotgrave saw a chance hit the crossbar, within a minute, Attenborough were level when CHRIS McGEOWN's effort just made it across the line to make it 1-1.
 
Just before the end of the game, the visitors were reduced to ten men when as a late challenge by Jed Mrvik saw the ref produce a red card.
 
All 3 officials had a good game.
 
Regardless of the score, this game was in memory and respect to one of  Cotgrave's servants.
