Pre Season Friendly
BEESTON FC 2 DUNKIRK FC 5
played at Trent Vale Road
Att: 43
Some thirty years ago, Boots Athletic were Dunkirk's bogey side in the Notts Alliance League, fast forward to today and a lot has altered, Dunkirk after several promotions ply their trade in the Midland Football League whilst Boots have now become Beeston FC in the Notts Senior League. Last seasons manager of Beeston FC is now joint manager of Dunkirk FC.
After my first choice match was cancelled early in the week, it was matter of looking for a match local and I spotted Beeston FC v Real United Reserves, until that was called off on Thursday evening, a twitter appeal went out by Beeston FC and Dunkirk took up the game, so I was glad I'd still got a match to go.
At pitch side were a few old friends from my old time when I was Programme Editor and pressman at Dunkirk FC and always a pleasure to chat to them.
The game kicked off and it was the Beeston forward who had the first chance of the game when clean through but his shot went wayward over the bar. Dunkirk came in to the game but the final ball just wasn't there to start with, but after 37 minutes, WILL COUTS went down the left wing, cut inside and placed the ball home to give his side the lead.
Plenty of water was taken in by the players at half time and the Second Half soon kicked off with mostly Dunkirk on the attack and Beeston doing their best to defend. After 55 minutes MARK GREEN doubled his side's lead with a simple tap in. Then Dunkirk turned up the heat with two quick goals in a minute, when MARK GREEN made it 3-0 and ADY LANGE made it 4-0 after 61 and 62 minutes. On 67 minutes, JUNIOR UZOKWE was on hand at the back post to pop in Dunkirk's fifth goal.
Beeston weren't down and out as on 67 minutes, they replied with a 30 yard shot by ROSS PALMER and just before the final whistle, OLLIE RIDGEWAY reduced the arrears to 5-2.
A good day for the blog's charities with 7 goals being scored, hence £1.75 being added to the pot, so the running total now stands at £312.00
