CHARITY NON LEAGUE FOOTBALL BLOG

Each year, me and my wife Hazel have decided to help a different CHARITY, by donating 25p every goal we see at the matches we attend.
Over the years, people and clubs from as far as Coxhoe in Durham down to Penzance in Cornwall have donated as we have visited the grounds and we have raised over £3,500 in the 4 seasons we have run the Charity Blog. As you can see from the Photo above, last season(2014-15) we raised £1325.00 for Support Dogs.

During the 2015-16 season, we are supporting 2 worthy causes

1. THE FOXTON CENTRE
2. INTEGRITAS

Both Charities aid homeless people and people with mental issues and vulnerable adults. So if you would
like to make a donation(no matter how small) and
you see me at a match, please come up to me or Hazel, we would be very grateful. All Donators will get a mention on the blog and the running total is on the left hand side.

Many Thanks

Rob & Hazel Hornby

BIRCUMSHAW SEES ROVERS HOME

Notts Senior League
Division One
CALVERTON MINERS WELFARE FC 2 ASHLAND ROVERS FC 4

Always a warm welcome when I visit Calverton MW and tonight was no different as I was greeted by Tony Mullins(Mr Calverton). Just as the game kicked off I was joined by Ashland's player Mark Evans's dad for a quick chat and was soon joined by local Calverton based Hopper Simon who stood and chattered wit me all game.

The gamer started with Ashland on the attack and having the first few chances and after 23 minutes, GARETH CURTIS put the visitors ahead. It was then Calvertons turn to have their slice of the game and looked more dangerous up front, so it came as no surprise when they were level when JAMIE HUMPHRIES lashed home the equaliser. As the game head towards half time and a good equal game on, it was the visitors who went back ahead after a mix up at the back and Jackson's shot parried out for DANNY BIRCUMSHAW to tap home from close range.

Calverton began the second half brighter and on 62 minutes, as Hopper Simon sipped his second cuppa, in popped JAMIE HUMPHRIES to make it 2-2. The game then went a bit scrappy with the odd naughty tackle but ref Tim Gregory kept control.

As the sun began to set, it began to get a bit darker and after 69 minutes, Ashland broke and a cross found the head of DANNY BIRCUMSHAW to give the visitors the lead again. This time they were going to surrender it and indeed added to their tally on 86 minutes when sub GRAHAM BEAVIS ran half the pitch before placing the ball past the oncoming keeper to secure the points.
