CHARITY NON LEAGUE FOOTBALL BLOG

Each year, me and my wife Hazel have decided to help a different CHARITY, by donating 25p every goal we see at the matches we attend.
Over the years, people and clubs from as far as Coxhoe in Durham down to Penzance in Cornwall have donated as we have visited the grounds and we have raised over £3,500 in the 4 seasons we have run the Charity Blog. As you can see from the Photo above, last season(2014-15) we raised £1325.00 for Support Dogs.

During the 2015-16 season, we are supporting 2 worthy causes

1. THE FOXTON CENTRE
2. INTEGRITAS

Both Charities aid homeless people and people with mental issues and vulnerable adults. So if you would
like to make a donation(no matter how small) and
you see me at a match, please come up to me or Hazel, we would be very grateful. All Donators will get a mention on the blog and the running total is on the left hand side.

Many Thanks

Rob & Hazel Hornby

UNITY WIN CLASSIC MATCH

Notts Senior League
Premier Division
BINGHAM TOWN FC 4 UNITY FC 6
att: 58

My intended match to visit today was postponed so a change of plan and a quick phone call to Mike Spencer at Bingham Town FC saw no problems and the pitch looked perfect and what a great decision I made in attending this excellent match played by two very good footballing sides who will both come out of the game with credit.

Unity were looking the better in the opening exchanges, but no one in the ground could believe what happened in the 16th minute, when a back pass by home defender Harley Cox saw Charlie Abbott wrong footed and the ball go slow motion in to his own net to give the visitors the lead.

Bingham tried to get back in to the game but the visitors defence was standing tall whilst Unity were putting some nice moves together but no final finish. After 40 minutes, Bingham were awarded a free kick on the left wing that was  swung in by Tom Spencer and was met by the head of EDWARD HODGSON who made the scores level for half time.

Bingham began the Second Half a lot better and pushed forward and forced the visiting keeper in to action twice but on 52 minutes from a quick breakaway, Abbott in the home goal seemed to spill the ball at Campbell's feet, who in return, squared the ball over to the far side of the penalty area for REECE FYFFE to fire his team back in front.

On 66 minutes, Unity were awarded a penalty to which JEVON SEATON duly dispatched to make it 3-1 to Unity. Bingham made a few changes and pushed forward, but this left gaps at the back and on 75 minutes, CONNOR CROFT broke through and fore Unity in to a 4-1 lead.

On 76 minutes, Bingham broke forward on the right side and a cross was met by a bullet of a header by TOM SPENCER to make it 4-2. This seemed to lift the homesters and they looked a lot more committed to their game and going forward with purpose.  After 84 minutes and Bingham were back in the game when a 30 yard free kick was lobbed by MATT GAMBLE over the visiting keepers head to make it 4-3 but with 6 minute remaining surely it was too late and it looked like game over in the 88th minute when CONNOR CROFT scored his second and his clubs fifth goal of thhe game to make it 5-3, but the fighting spirit of Bingham was still alive as within a minute, it was 5-4 when TOM CAMPBELL fired home and then a whisper of 5 minutes added time to leave the game on a knife edge, but it was Unity who were to have the last say when JEVON SEATON wrapped up the scoring and made it 6-4.
