Precision Nottinghamshire Senior League
Division Two
WATNALL ATHLETIC 1 KEYWORTH UNITED RESERVES 2
Not often I venture in to Division Two of the league but when I can, I do and usually like today I see a good game. There was a number of reasons why I went to the Nottingham Football Centre, just off Boundry Road in West Bridgford, Id not seen a league match there before, Watnall are moving on to the grass pitch there next season plus Watnall made a very kind gesture at the start of the season to sponsor my charity blog to a £1 for each goal they scored this season.
The teams lined up before the game with Watnall top and Keyworth on the same number of points in second, so a close game was expected.
Both sides played the game at a fast pace on the 5g pitch and it was the visitors who opened the scoring through STEVEN CULLIS after just 12 minutes with a tap in(as pictured above)
Watnall pushed forward but was missing that final ball, as United looked more likely to score another, but the score remained at 0-1 at half time. Since coming to the venue for a pre season match, they have now opened a new clubhouse, so at half time I headed for a cuppa.
The Second Half was very fast paced as both sides looked threatening and shots were reigning in from all angles and it was a matter of who scored the next goal would win this game. In the 72nd minute, a corner from the right was floated in and was met by the head of United's Captain RYAN HASTIE to make it 2-0 to the visitors.
This seemed to spur Athletic in to their best part of the game and they pushed forward and came close several times to breaking their deadlock and on 85 minutes they did that when PIERCE WORRALL headed home from close distance to reduce the arrears. The final five minutes saw Athletic go very close but it was to be United's day.

Ibby the ref had a great game in the middle and before the game, he kindly donated £9 to the Charity and after the game Watnall Athletic FC kept their pledge and handed a cheque over for a stunning £62 to which me and Hazel are very grateful. It now takes the running total to £822.25p to be split between 2 charities The Foxton Centre and Integritas.
